Hey Party People! ๐
How has your week been? Mine has been a little cray-cray but I’m making it (may not be very sane, but I’m making it ;p). I have several posts that are partially done but when I was looking through my pictures, I realized that I never shower you the work baby shower from a couple months. Sorry. ;p
I love throwing parties with my co-workers. This is the second shower we’ve teamed up to do at work & we just work well together. The lean-mean-party-animal machine consists of Morgan Braswell, Taylor Austin & Whitney Teal. We usually have an initial brain-storming meeting, delegate & then follow up with email & it works great.
Our theme was based on the bedding that Jim & Kristi (the parents to be) had picked out. The colors were soft pastel pink, green & white. There were a few cute animals on the bedding so Morgan did a pink giraffe spotted table runner.
Morgan just cut out “spots” from pink cardstock & taped them to the tablecloth. Talk about a “Parties for Pennies” approved idea! ๐
Throwing a party at work can be challenging. Sometimes there isn’t a “pretty place” to stage the party & you probably have limited time. We wanted something that would mute the tile ceiling so we went with the pom poms & streamers. On the inspirational bedding, there were blades of grass that ran across it. I mimicked that by cutting strips all along the green streamers. It was super fast & easy.
We had the shower in the morning so we went with a breakfast menu. Taylor & Whitney both made amazing breakfast casseroles! This is Taylors.
And this is Whitneys. Seriously…the girls made awesome casseroles. Kinda makin my mouth water now.
I made petit fours for the dessert. I tried several different experiments to see if I could figure out a short-cut. I tried making regular vanilla cake but it ends up too crumbly. I tried store bought pound cake. That worked really well but very expensive.
Overall, the petit fours tasted delicious but they were time-consuming & can get a little pricey. When I first started this blog, I did petit fours from twinkies. Those definitely are a lot easier & somewhat less expensive (twinkies are getting pricey). You can see that here (forgive my pics).
You can probably see on this picture how some of the cakes were too soft & porous to catch the icing. The square to the far right is one from the pound cake. That’s how it should look! :p
This was my first time attempting roses. Most of them turned out okay…if you squint really hard. ;p
This is Kristi & Jim (the parents to be). ๐ Well…they were at that time. ;p That’s how long it’s taken me to post these pics!
One of my favorite things we did was the shower card. Jim is hilarious so I knew I wanted to give them a card that reflected their sense of humor.
I found cute & strange pictures of little babies & added a caption bubble using Picmonkey. We passed the card around to our co-workers, had them add a caption & sign their name. It was a lot of fun & cost WAY less than a store bought card.
Have you ever tried to throw a shower/party at work? What was the biggest challenge for you?
Hope you have a great week!
