Hey Party People!
Hope your weekend was great!
I was busy working on a little shindig going on this week. I posted this sneak peek on the Parties for Pennies facebook page.
It’s been fun working on this little project…but…I do have to apologize because I said that over the weekend I’d post one more homemade gift idea. I failed you. I just got so swamped and needed to set aside time for my husband so I wasn’t able to post the homemade gift idea until tonight. (Oh yeah…gonna bust out the husband quality time excuse)
This homemade gift idea is what I did for my co-workers last year. I have over 40 co-workers which is small enough to have guilt over giving something to one person & not to another. Every year, I attempt to come up with creative, inexpensive and useable gift ideas. When you’re talking 40 people, I just can’t afford to spend $5 on each person. But I love giving so I aim for $1/each.
Last year, I loved my gift.
Personalized Post-It Note Pad
You can buy a pack of regular post-it note pads for less than $1 each. I covered them in cardstock I already owned (it was from one of those big book-like packs), bought a roll of velcro and a $2 pack of letter stickers.
I cut out a “template” using regular cardstock, then cut out the patterned cardstock. Using a glue stick, I attached it to the back of the post-it note then added a small little piece of velcro.
To personlize it, I added the first initial of each person’s name on their post-it pad.
The fun part about this is that you can design it any way you want. When I went to New York to tape a segment on the Better Show, I took several of these as little thank you gifts.
These were a couple of the ones I made to take to New York. Picture quality = Bleck. I was making these at 12am the morning that we flew out.
Here’s another version. I was going with the whole “use whatcha got” mantra on these.
These are really super easy, inexpensive, useable (who HASN’T ever used post-it notes?) and the sky’s the limit on your creativity.

OK, you are seriously the best co-worker ever. I can’t believe with 40 co-workers that you give every one of them something! Can I come and work there? 🙂 Creative, as always!

Well…I do think I tend to get lazier & lazier (not sure if that’s a word) with my co-worker gifts over the years. ;p This year…wait until you see how simple & easy the gifts are. I need to make you a post-it gift anyways…maybe I’ll bring one for you to Boston!! <3 u!

These are so cute too. I did try these last Christmas Heidi. I used what I “had” like wrapping paper and ribbons and some letter. I love how yours came out though. Next time I need to use card stock. I am just now catching up on your blogs today!:)

I bet yours looked great Kim! But yes…cardstock definitely gives it a little stability of sorts. Well…I’m just now catching up on comments. ;p Hope you have a Merry Christmas! <3 Heidi Rew

Those are adorable. I love your idea of making your own gift for your co-workers. They must have loved it so much.. It is really very nice to receive gifts that are customized and are personally done for you. This make the gift extra specially and memorable. Thank you for sharing this idea, Heidi.
