Hey party people!
Valentines Day is right around the corner and I’m excited. Mike & I are doing something quite different this year. No fancy schmancy dinner…we’re going extreme. Can’t wait to share it with you.
If you’re a mom (especially with a couple of kids), Valentines Day may seem a tad bit more stressful. My college friend, fellow blogger and super mom Whitney said she has over 80 Valentines cards to do!! Did I mention she’s a military mom & her husband just left for service? She’s really hilarious & shares the craziness of motherhood in her blog.
I thought I’d show all you moms out there some love and create a Valentines Day card printable. All you have to do is feed some cardstock through the computer. You can even get your kids involved!
The only kid Mike and me have (right now) is our dog Guinness. While he’s cute…he doesn’t color much, so I enlisted the help of my friend, Cara and her adorable kids.
That’s Elle on the left and Anderson on the right. Elle is four and Anderson is two. I brought them both thank you gifts for being my “models” for the day. Elle got Hello Kitty stickers and a big roll of bubble gum (she’s great at not swallowing her gum…now we’re trying to move her into the skillset of blowing bubbles). Anderson got the dog from Toy Story in a pez dispenser form. That was a huge hit. I wasn’t sure what to get a two year old, but who can not be enamored with their first pez??!
This Valentine Card project is super easy. Just have the kids sit down and color away on some white cardstock. Their imagination is the limit (as long as it’s on the paper…I guess imagination does have limits when it ends up on the wall).
I think Elle and Anderson actually sat there for about 20 minutes coloring…in between pez feedings and bubble gum smacking. They did an AWESOME job.
After your kids have created their masterpiece, take the printable below (you’ll need to cut out the heart portion ahead of time) and glue a portion of the artwork to the card. You can cut the artwork into squares or just place the card over the artwork like Cara and Anderson are doing. Using a glue stick or regular glue, adhere the child’s artwork so that it aligns with the heart of the card.
And now you have a beautiful, one of a kind Valentines Card that your child can give to their grandparents, teacher or classmates.
My original design is a 5×7 but you can squeeze 2 or 4 of these onto one piece of cardstock. When you click “print here,” there’s a section on the top that lets you download this file to your Word/PDF software.
This is the first time I used Google docs for printables, so let me know if it was an easy process.
Let me forewarn you…tutorials and pics are coming, in full force, of my sister’s bridal shower from last weekend. Just wanted you to be prepared. ;p
Until the bridal shower bonanza begins…
