Hey party people!
Create a unique flower arrangement with these DIY Flower Balls. I’m doing these for my sister’s wedding centerpieces but you could also use these as hanging decorations.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Styrofoam ball (size of your choice – for a cheaper option, check the dollar stores…sometimes they’ll have some. I got mine for $3/ea at a discount place near me)
Hot Glue Gun
Faux Flowers (I think I may have used 4 flowers/ea for mine)
Ribbon (or to create the centerpiece like I did above, gather a candlestick – check out thrift stores for these)
1. Take your hot glue gun & make a line of glue.
2. Pull the flowers off the bouquet & one by one attach on the line of glue. I would place the flower on the glue, then secure by pushing in the pointed end of the flower.
3. Create another line of glue beside the first one & repeat step #2.
4. Continue until the entire styrofoam ball has been covered.
To add a ribbon, leave a small space to attach the ribbon with the glue. If you’re using candlesticks, I left a little patch bare and secured that to the candlestick using the glue gun.
Now you have your beautiful flower balls! Total, these cost me under $20 to make. It took me about an hour to do one ball but you may be a little speedier. I have a tendency to burn myself so I was trying to be careful. ;p
I can’t wait to show you all the photos from my sister’s wedding this coming Saturday!
I’ve also got another event I’m designing for Mohawk Flooring. If you’re in the Atlanta area, you should stop by! It’s celebrating the grand opening of Builder’s Floor Covering off Roswell Rd in Buckhead. They’re giving away a $20,000 room makeover with Taniya Nayak from HGTV & the Food Network and you can meet her at the event. Kristin Jackson from The Hunted Interior will be hosting a Q&A time with Taniya. There will be Gigi’s cupcakes, appetizers from Food101, drinks and more giveaways! I’m serious…you DO.NOT.WANT.TO.MISS.IT!! Register for your chance to win that $20,000 room makeover here.
Here’s a sneak peek at my partyspiration board for the event –

Love hydrangeas! These are so pretty!

I love both flower balls, but for the purple one what other flowers did you use besides hydrangeas?
Heidi Rew says
Zoe, I only used hydrangeas, but I’m sure you could find some other faux purple flowers at your craft store. I bet any of them would look gorgeous! <3 Heidi
