Hey party people!
What girl (and some guys…let’s be honest here) wouldn’t LOVE a SPA PARTY? Well here is EVERYTHING you need to throw your own Spa Party…PLUS it’s on a BUDGET!
I literally have created a Party in a PDF for you! The invitations, the Welcome Sign, the favor tags, the menu tags, the spa services, the supply list, the timeline and to-do list…everything is taken care of for YOU! PLUS I’ve put all the info on video. Who is looking out for you?? 😉 So, take a deep breath and just follow this outline…
1| INVITATIONS
- Spa Mask Invitations – These are printable invitations that you just fill in your own information, cut out, and stick in the mail! You can add some embellishments if you want or just send them as is!
- Spa Sandwiches – These are simply just bread from the grocery store + deli meat + cheese. You can tailor it to whatever food allergies or preferences. Peanut butter (or almond butter) & jelly, chicken salad, tuna salad, or even a veggie sandwich are other options.
- Cucumbers & Hummus – Doesn’t get much more “spa-like” than that?! If you don’t have plastic appetizer cups like mine, just use regular small clear plastic cups. They’re less expensive and work just as well! You don’t have to just stick to hummus. You can add other fruit as well.
- Cotton Ball Cupcakes – These are easy peasy. Store-bought (or homemade) cupcakes + powdered sugar doughnut holes (or the Ferrero Raffeallo coconut candies) = Cotton Ball Cupcakes.
- Edible Nail Polish – Your guests are going to LOVE these! Check out the video in this post to see how to make your own!
3| DECORATIONS
- Tufted Backdrop – Can you believe the tufted backdrop I used for my party is made from foam board? Yep! And you can make one too! Check out this VIDEO TUTORIAL to find out how to make your own! You can use a plastic tablecloth, like I did in the video, or you can use fabric, like I did for this party. If you use fabric, you may have to secure it with a staple gun since it’s thicker material.
- Flowers – Beautiful flowers really make a room more serene. Get some at your local warehouse store, farmers market, or Trader Joes. These are my go-to places for affordable and beautiful flowers.
- Signs – Check out the Welcome Sign, Spa Services Sign, Menu Labels, and other beautiful printables to add to your decor!
- Mini Mani/Pedi Kit – As soon as the guests arrive, give them their own mani/pedi kit with their name on it. A lot of times you can find these at the Dollar Store or even your local Target/WalMart. This way you can use the guests own kit on them when you do the mani/pedis.
- DIY Flip Flops – You can see how to do these in the video tutorial in this post. The guests will love decorating them and then they can wear them after their pedi.
- Spa Services – If you have several guests, it would obviously take forever to do all the spa services yourself. Ask some of the parents to help man a station. Have the guests alternate between each one. You can also combine two of them to help out – foot soak, while they’re getting their fingernails done OR face mask while they’re getting their feet done.
SPA MASK RECIPE:
Avocado & Yogurt Mask
1/2 ripe banana, mashed
1/2 ripe avocado, mashed
2 tbsp. full-fat yogurt
Mix together & leave on your face for 10-20 minutes. Makes 1 mask (adult) & 2 masks (kid).
Other Spa ideas: Let your guests add sit back & relax with cut cucumbers for their eyes! Set up a foot soak with epsom salts and avocado oil (find it at health stores).
I PROMISE you can throw the most serene & beautiful SPA PARTY!! To make it easy on yourself, just download the SPA PARTY in a PDF to easily print off your invites, signs, favor tags, menu labels, to-do list, and supplies! Now…Party On!

My daughter wants a mermaid party for her June birthday. I need your ideas! I have a waterslide and ordered invitations but that’s it!
Heidi Rew says
How fun! What does her invitations look like? If you can send me her invitations, I can try & put together a Partyspiration board for you. I will say that I probably can’t get to it until after April 27th. That’s my sister’s wedding & another big event I’m helping with so until that’s done…I’m pretty swamped. If you want to email me, you can: heidi@heidirew.com. Thanks so much Bess!! Her mermaid party is going to be awesome!! <3 Heidi
Hannah says
Heidi, thanks for helping to make this party so special! I would have had no direction without your Partyspiration board, and having that board made it so easy to walk into random stores and grab the sale items that fit my theme. Having all of your fun party stuff there made it all tie together so well. I’m so lucky to have you in my life!
Heidi Rew says
You’re so welcome friend! The feeling is mutual! And…thanks for letting me crash the party! <3 Heidi
Kim Ayers says
Heidi I really enjoyed this idea! So cute! May me fun for an adult women’s party too 🙂 :0 )
Heidi Rew says
Thanks so much Kim! Yes…it would be fun for an adult woman’s party too! When I was there, I thought…man, that facial looks amazing! Definitely don’t think this is just limited to kids! You can even have your own spa party at home…by yourself! :p Thanks Kim! <3 Heidi
Natalie says
Love this theme and have hand made the masks already. I’m pretty dense when it comes to computers. I was looking on the page over and over and couldn’t find the printable for the invite. Maybe I looked over it or something but I just can’t find it anywhere on the page. Help! Thanks in advance
Heidi Rew says
Hey Natalie! I’m so glad you like the theme. I bet your party is going to be awesome. I hate to tell you this but I didn’t do a printable for the invitation…just the labels. I am so sorry. I promise you, though, it’s super easy to make. In fact, you can do the invites by just using Word. Just make sure to measure the masks so you know how large they need to be. Again..I’m really sorry. If I have a chance, though…that would be a great thing to add to this post. When’s your party? <3 Heidi
Ana says
Love it!!!
Anna says
Can you share how the flip flops were made?
Heidi Rew says
Yes Anna! You just cut out foam in form of the flip flop’s sole (use another flip flop as a template). Punch a hole through the foam with scissors (there were parents on hand to help with this part) at the top (at the same location where the toes thread through on regular flip flops). You can do this ahead if you’d rather not worry about doing it at the party. Take two pipe cleaners & thread one end of each through the hole you just punched. Using about an inch of the pipe cleaners that you just thread through, criss-cross the pipe cleaners and fold down so they lay flat on the bottom of the foam flip flop. Now punch two holes towards the bottom of the flip flop (just like regular flip flops). Take one pipe cleaner & thread it through one of the holes you just punched. Secure it by folding it over the foam. Do the same for the other pipe cleaner. If you’d like to add beads to the pipe cleaners, do it before you attach them to the bottom. One thing that was helpful during the Spa party was that the helpers customized how tight the pipe cleaners were dependent on each girls foot. They could also add stickers and other things to their flip flops. I know this is probably hard to grasp through written instruction. Eventually, I’ll do a post with pictures & that should be more helpful. Thanks Anna! <3 Heidi
Hailey says
love the idea. I’m using it for my daughters playdate this Friday it will be tons of fun!!
Heidi Rew says
That is going to be a blast! You’ll have to take pics! <3 Heidi
andrea says
how did u make the invitations
Heidi Rew says
Hey Andrea! My friend Hannah created it in Word and just cut them out. She used another online spa mask invite as a template. Sorry..wish that was more helpful! <3 Heidi
gini says
I loved this!!! So creative!! I’m planning a spa party for my niece and was kinda lost. I loves those mashmellow nail polish soo cute!! I have a question though. Did you hire someone to get their pedis and manis done or how did that part work. Thank you for sharing this.
Heidi Rew says
Hey Gini! No. Other moms & family members volunteered to help. They did a great job! Hope this helps! Party On! <3 Heidi
Mary says
Can you please tell me where you bought the $1 manicure sets used as party favors and for party guests to use for their mani / pedi? I need to purchase 10 sets. Thanks!
Heidi Rew says
Hey Mary! Those were from the Dollar Store. If they don’t still have them, here’s a set from Amazon that’s affordable: http://www.amazon.com/Ms-Manicure-Mini-Nail-Clipper/dp/B00D2WE4W8/ref=sr_1_88?ie=UTF8&qid=1392218369&sr=8-88&keywords=mini+manicure+set
Mary Arcure says
Hi Heidi, Where did you get the manicure / pedicure packaged sets for $1? My daughter is going to have a spa party for her 7th b’day, and I’d love to give these to all of her guests.
Thank you,
Mary
Heidi Rew says
Hey Mary! It was at the Dollar Store. Not sure if they still have them but here’s a set on Amazon for just a tad over $1. Let me know if you need anything else! <3 Heidi
Farrah says
I’m looking for an invitation and love the idea of the cute little spa masks. Who did you have make them? Is the template available?
Heidi Rew says
Hey Farrah! There isn’t a template. I’m so sorry. Hannah just did that through Word and cut it out. If I get a chance I’ll try & create a template to be printed off. I’ve had a lot of people ask. Again, so sorry. <3 Heidi
Monique says
Hi, love this spa party ideas. My daughter will be 12 years old in Sept. and I decided to have a spa theme. I google spa party ideas and viewed your website…..thanks for your party board! I will love to make the spa invitations….I know her mom use Word to create the invitation but where did she get the mask shape? Also I love the fireplace ideal for the pedicure/manicure setting…. Are those white pillows for the back drop? Thanks again for the help!
admin says
Hey Monique! She just used a regular eye mask to create a template shape. She then used the template to trace around the “text” and cut out the eye mask shape. For the backdrop on the fireplace, she used my tufted backdrops. You can make your own with my video tutorial here: http://youtu.be/SRNpKUEzAM8?list=UUkpLF_BI8T5J48ddRlxGafw. Hope this helps, Monique! You can email me if you have any other questions: heidi@partiesforpennies.com. <3 Heidi
Monique says
I am having trouble printing the labels and spa service sheet. I tried clicking on scribed but the labels are not there. Also do you have a video on how you created the bubble wrap chandelier? Thanks.
Monique says
Thanks for the email with the attachment of labels. Do you have a video showing how you created the chandelier with wired hangers and bubble wrap?
admin says
I don’t Monique! 🙁 I’m so sorry. I’ll have to add that to my list of videos to do! <3 Heidi
Chelsea says
I’m hosting a spa party for my daughter’s 10th birthday next Saturday, and this post has been invaluable! (I’m especially looking forward to making the tufted backdrop…I think they’ll really elevate the whole look of the party).
I have a question about the label printables. Did she use the large label template for the welcome sign on the door? Also, could the small labels be printed onto actual label paper and used to adhere to small water bottles? I bought plastic champagne flutes, and I think it would be cute (and helpful in keeping track of whose cup is whose) to attach a label on each flute with the guest’s name on it.
admin says
Hey Chelsea! I’m so glad this post has been helpful. I customized the Welcome Sign for Hannah, but you certainly could use the large label template for the sign. I’d try and enlarge it, if I were you. I’ll email you the files. Hopefully it will be easier for you to resize them that way. I love the idea of the plastic champagne flutes. So cute! <3 Heidi
Monique says
Hi Heidi. I viewed your you-tube video on your tuft backdrop. Where did you purchased the brads from and what size are they? I tried this project, but the brads I purchased from Michael craft store are too short. I was able to get it through but when I tried to put another brad through, the first brads sinked through the tablecloth and it ripped. Can you help please? Thanks!
admin says
Hey Monique! I got the brads from Staples or Office Depot. Both of the places have them. If you can’t find them, ask someone at the front for the brads. They should be able to help you. That’s what I did. The brads at the office supply store are larger and work MUCH better. That’s probably why your tablecloth ripped. The brad heads need to be pretty large to hold it all in place. Hope this helps! Choose the biggest brads from the office supply store! <3 Heidi
Monique says
Ok, thank you so much. Did you also get the rhinestones from there and did you use the tacky glue to secure them on the brads? Also how did you cover the fireplace with the backdrops, in other words how did you secure them on the fireplace?
admin says
I got the rhinestones from a craft store – either JoAnns or Hobby Lobby (both should have them) and I used the tacky glue to secure them. You could use a regular glue gun, though. For the fireplace area, they were just stacked against it. To secure it better, I’d tape all four together, then attach to the fireplace by either attaching the string to the back of the backdrop, then hanging it from a picture hanging mount…or…by taping it. The backdrop isn’t very heavy at all. Hope this helps! <3 Heidi
Ali says
I am hosting a Spa party for my daughter this weekend and the printables are perfect! I am not having any luck with the downloads- can’t change or add working. Any help you could give would be wonderful! Such wonderful ideas- doing the marshmallows, too! Tx for your help!
Heidi Rew says
Hey Ali! What format did you download it in? You have to download it from Scribd, then open it in Word or Adobe. Once you have it opened in Word, create a text box and add what text you’d like. Hope this helps! Feel free to email me: heidi@partiesforpennies.com if you have any other questions. <3 Heidi

Jane says
Hi. I love your ideas. We are planning a make-up/spa party for my grandaughter that is turning 4. We desperately need ideas for what to do with the little boys that will be attending the party. She has a brother that will be 7 soon. My daughter (their mother) says we have to invite the boys and come up with boy things for them. Help!!!
Heidi Rew says
Jane, Thank you so much. That is tough to have activities that both girls & boys would enjoy. Here are a few ideas:
1| DIY Slime – If the boys aren’t into facials and manicures, let them make their own slime. Here’s how to DIY it: https://partiesforpennies.com/2012/10/halloween-party-favor-how-to-make-slime/
2| Shaving Cream Battle – If it’s a pretty day, let the boys head outside for a shaving cream battle. Make sure it’s the shaving cream for sensitive skin so it doesn’t burn their eyes. You can also hand out dollar store ponchos for them to wear so they keep their clothes clean.
3| Set up a “Cotton Bowl” – This would be some relay races using cotton balls. The Cotton Bowl is a take on the football championship. One relay could be using double-sided tape around one players head. Place a bowl of cotton balls at one end of the room. The player with the tape around his forehead has to run to the bowl and collect as many cotton balls as he can around the tape, then run back to the start. The other player has to take them off with tweezers (or just their fingers, depending on the age). At the end of 2-3 minutes, the team with the most cotton balls win. Another idea is cotton ball toss. With a plastic spoon, the kids have to fling a cotton ball into a basket/bucket. The team with the most after a certain time wins. Those are just a couple ideas.
Those are a few ideas. I also offer consultations for $50/hour if you need any additional ideas. Thanks Jane! Hope the party is a huge success! <3 Heidi

LOVE THIS!!! Found out today that we are planning a surprise spa birthday party for my boss next week!! However, I have problems when I try to download the printables when I click where it says “Click Here To Download Spa Party Printables” What am I doing wrong? I feel so computer illiterate right now!!
Heidi Rew says
Hey Julia! You have to purchase them in the Parties for Pennies shop – https://partiesforpennies.com/product/spa-party-pdf/. Once you purchase them, you’ll see a link to download the printables. Feel free to email me if you’re still confused – heidi@partiesforpennis.com. So sorry Julia! <3 Heidi
Bria Alexander says
This is really beautiful and I will be turning 18 soon and i wanted to do a spa themed pajama party but I’m not sure how to make it a little more adult like lol.. I need help
Heidi Rew says
Bria, You could still do a similar menu – mini deli sandwiches, veggies & hummus cups, cupcakes, etc. I’d add in some spa water with cut up oranges, lemons, cucumbers, etc. Maybe some sparkling apple juice or La Croix. You could still do DIY flip flops, but maybe just find some cheap flip flops (here are some on amazon for a little over $1 – http://amzn.to/2iou8Dx) and then provide some ribbon, fur, jewels, etc to decorate them. You could also decorate your own eye masks (http://amzn.to/2hukcLU). Since you girls are older, this is actually better because you can just set up some stations for the girls and they can paint their own nails and put on their own face masks. You can find face mask recipes, all the printables (including the spa mask invitation), and more on the Spa Party packet: https://partiesforpennies.com/product/spa-party-pdf/ Happy Birthday Bria! Hope it’s awesome! <3 Heidi

As you said, spa parties are perfect for everyone! I love some of these fun treat bag and invitation ideas you gave. I’m thinking of doing a party like this for my twin girls and their friends. I think it would fun to take them all to a real spa to get the whole experience. I will definitely be incorporating some of these ideas! Thanks for sharing!
Heidi Rew says
Great idea Annika! Thank you!! Hope your twin girls have an awesome spa party! <3 Heidi
