Hey party people!
If you were able to catch my post this past Wednesday, you saw the Memorial Day (or Patriotic) cups I created using plain cups & adding washi tape appliques to them.
Most of these are pretty simple to create. Just simple lines.
The star, however, is a little more complicated. So, here’s how to create appliques out of washi tape.
This is what you’ll need:
Washi Tape (you can find this on Etsy, from Paper Source, your local craft store, or even Target)
Scissors
Marker/Pen
Wax Paper
First create a large square on your wax paper with the washi tape.
Make sure your washi tape slightly laps over each strip.
Turn your wax paper over & draw your design. I did a star so I used the guide I learned in elementary school (still the only way I can draw a decent star).
Cut out your design.
Carefully peel off the wax paper. If it’s a little difficult, use the tip of the scissors to pry it off. That will help get it started.
Adhere to your cup or other item & you’re done!
See…super easy.
This is the perfect project for any party. Transform your regular cups, plates, vases into the perfect party-themed decor.
Have you used washi tape before? Are you a fan of it?
Hope you have an awesome Memorial Day weekend!

Thanks Renee!! Hope you’re enjoying the summer so far! I know for teachers, it probably seems so short, but hope you’re getting some rest & relaxation! <3 Heidi
