Hey party people!
I’ve had several people ask me recently for Baby Shower theme ideas.
Sometimes the hardest part of party planning is getting started. Just having a vision or direction of where you want to go. But this is often the place you can come down with “party block.”
Party Block: a condition in which you are unable to produce any party ideas. Often caused by Pinterest overload, unrealistic expectations and/or pure exhaustion from everything else on your plate.
I thought it’d be helpful to compile a list of different baby shower themes. Maybe this will get the inspiration juice flowing.
You could have a baby shower that is a play on words…

My husband was looking over my shoulder as I was writing this & wanted to give his “Play on Words” theme input. He said,”She’s about to download.” So for whatever that’s worth…only a man would come up with that. ;p
For some reason babies are always associated with animals. You could focus on one particular animal or a whole bunch (ala Noah’s Ark).
Bee Invitations | Animal Cracker Favors | Bird Diaper Invitations | Gold Giraffe | Owl Centerpiece
Personally, I love book-themed showers. That was one of my most favorite things to do growing up, so one day (when we’re lucky enough to expand our family) I look forward to reading to our child.
You could go with a children’s book, a nursery rhyme, a favorite book from when you were young, or create your own storybook for the little one.
You can even order a personalized childrens book from an online company called, “I See Me!”

I love the “Build-A-Library” shower invitation!
The * beside the titles indicate that I couldn’t find the source for the image. If you happen to know the source, I’d love to know so I can update it.
You may not be feeling a certain theme. In that case, ask the mom to be what the nursery colors will be or the style of the nursery. Maybe the nursery will be a real rustic style and you can use that as inspiration for the shower.
I’m helping plan a shower for a dear friend of mine & she’s not really the theme-type of person. I asked her for her nursery color-scheme and she said, “purple & yellow with a gray chevron rug.” Doesn’t that sound awesome?
So this is the partyspiration board I created for the shower…
Maybe the mother to be has a favorite city she loves? Or that she longs to visit? Make her feel like she’s in another country or even a US State (take her to sunny California, Maine, Montana, New Mexico, etc).

There are always the fun & festive themes, too!
I forgot to add these fun themes to the list: Car, Planes & Trains Shower for a baby boy, Wild West (or Cowboy/girl) Shower, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Crafts Shower (make fun little things for the little one), and Pamper Shower (Pamper the Mother to Be with Spa Services & Pamper Diapers).

Do you have any baby showers you’re planning? I think I’m in that stage of life where a lot of my friends are having babies so it feels like there are plenty of baby showers. I don’t mind, though! Always love a party…especially to celebrate the miracle of a baby!
I’ve got a fun project for you this Wednesday using Washi Tape! Can’t wait to share it with you.
p.s. This is YOUR official invite to the party… join in on the Parties for Pennies Facebook page, Twitter, and Pinterest!
