Hey party people!
Invitations are like the shoes of the party. What I mean is…cute shoes or cute invitations can really make an outfit or a party. You can get away with just plain heels or you could choose a bright wedge that really makes an outfit pop. The same with invitations.
The problem?
Just like shoes…that can end up costing a pretty penny.
For an upcoming shower I’m hosting (with Amy & Meg), I created my own simple invitation but I wanted the envelope to stand out. I just wanted an extra touch…like a few rhinestones on those black pumps (sorry…now I’m confusing myself…are we talking about shoes or parties? ;p). My original plan didn’t work out so I was left with nothing in my budget to add any special touches.
That led to this easy diy polka-dotted envelope flap idea using supplies I already had.
All you need to start with are these basic materials:
You’ll need:
Envelope
Pencil (more importantly the eraser)
Acrylic Paint
Step 1: Pour a little acrylic paint onto a plate, cup or use old jar lids.
Step 2: Dip the end of the pencil eraser into the white paint. Be careful not to get too much or too little on the eraser. Test it out a few times on scrap paper before you try it on the envelope flap.
Step 3: Beginning at the top of the envelope flap, gently tap the pencil eraser down until you see a cute little dot. Continue to do this on the entire envelope flap. Wait until it dries and you’ve got a fancified invitation envelope with barely any pennies spared!
Speaking of this shower…I’ve got some last minute projects to wrap up for it! Can’t wait to show it to you next week. Friday stop in to see a fun kids party idea. Until then…party on! (or maybe I’ve inspired you to go shoe shopping?? ; p)
p.s. This is YOUR official invite to the party… join in on the Parties for Pennies Facebook page, Twitter, and Pinterest!
