Hey party people!
Please do not be mad at me.
What I am about to show you is divine. I mean there will be some audible “hmmms” and “oh my’s” coming from your mouth with this recipe. And let’s go ahead and lay this out there…a serving size CANNOT possibly mean just one of these cinnamon rolls because it’s not possible for someone to JUST eat one!
I give you…Gluten Free Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls with Maple Cream Cheese Frosting…
I have had only one cinnamon roll in my entire life that I literally would run a marathon for.
I was a sophmore in college & after a Christmas banquet, a group of us went back to the McQuiston’s house. Quinton McQuiston was one of the guys in our little entourage and his mom was an amazing baker.
We walked inside & it smelled better than IKEA!
All over the kitchen were these huge homemade cinnamon rolls that were picture perfect.
I’m so glad she offered us some because I think my hand may have involuntarily grabbed one & shoved it in my mouth before anyone could protest.
Do I remember who I went with to that banquet? Nope.
Do I remember those cinnamon rolls? Every last detail.
Oh my life is sometimes very sad.
I did try & make homemade cinnamon rolls before…thinking they’d be just as divine as Mrs. McQuiston’s but oh no…they were horrible.
I’d almost given up…until now.
And oh man was I impressed.
If you’ve read the blog for awhile, you may know that I am gluten free. Went gluten free two summers ago & it was the best decision. One of my favorite gluten-free pizza crusts is from Bob’s Red Mill. On the package, there’s a recipe for cinnamon rolls using the pizza crust mix.
But I was really wanting to do a pumpkin cinnamon roll with a maple cream cheese icing…so I adapted it & they turned out so amazing.
UPDATE: I don’t think I notated the size of the pumpkin can. It’s a 15 oz. can.
I’m sorry I didn’t take more shots of the actual baking. There were 2 reasons: 1) I didn’t have much faith that these would actually turn out & 2) It was at night & my photos always turn out orangey looking when I take them at night with the overhead lights.
At least I warned you. These are seriously delicious with a capital D! I have finally met Mrs. McQuiston’s cinnamon roll match. 🙂
Side note: Even people that are Gluten eaters & lovers tried these and loved them.
Is anyone else gluten-free? Have you tried any restaurant GF pizza crusts you like? I’ve only tried Mellow Mushrooms & do not like it.
Stop back in on Monday for a glam & fun Halloween decor item!

These look amazing. I have a quick question about going gluten-free. I went gluten-free back at the beginning of June (long story why) and stayed that way for over 3 months. I really didn’t notice a big difference other than my head felt a little clearer (I also went sugar and dairy free so I am not real sure which one helped that …maybe all?). How long until you noticed positive changes? I do eat gluten now, but not very often and mostly because it is a challenge to cook and prepare meals and snacks for my family without it sometimes. I am just curious about what changes you noticed and how long it took for you to notice them. I am wondering if I should try it again and for longer?
Love your blog…I read it each week I just don’t usually comment 🙂

Thanks so much for reading, Melissa!! I so appreciate it. I went gluten free because I was getting headaches randomly that would last a couple days. I thought I’d try going gluten free to see if that was the cause & sure enough…no headaches. If I do have gluten, I will get the headaches again. I don’t have Celiac’s disease but I do have a gluten allergy. Going gluten free was hard, at first, but now it’s not a big deal. There are a lot of gluten free options out there now and my husband went gluten free at the start of 2013. That certainly helps that we’re both eating that way. That would be a challenge preparing meals for a family. Right now, I usually stick with a phone app called The Caveman’s Feast. They have really good recipes that follow the Paleo diet (so basically gluten free) and my husband Mike loves the recipes. If you don’t have any horrible symptoms, I’d say you shouldn’t worry about the gluten (just limit it). But I do see a difference in my energy & cravings with the gluten-free lifestyle…well…that is until I made these cinnamon rolls (could eat all of them ;p). Thanks again Melissa! Let me know if you have any other questions. <3 Heidi
