Hey Party People!
Does anyone else feel like this season is FLYING by? How is it that Thanksgiving is next week?
If you feel like you’re still scrambling to figure out Thanksgiving, this may give you some inspiration…at least where your Thanksgiving table is concerned. But this really could be an overall holiday tablescape that easily transitions.
I found those dinner napkins on sale at World Market and I suddenly saw a Thanksgiving table that swayed from the usual fall colors and embraced a cranberry, navy, and gold color scheme.
For the centerpiece, I put a candle in a plastic cup, then secured it by pouring some sand around it. I set the “Cup-O-Candle” in the square vase & then poured those pretty little cranberries all around it. I used about 2 bags each vase but I had a very small cup that was tall so I had to take the cranberries all the way to the brim. Use a smaller & wider cup to save on the amount of cranberries you have to buy.
The greenery in the middle is actually not real but I originally wanted to do a sage or a small rosemary plant. Either of those herbs would be very fitting for the Thanksgiving holiday and add a little bit of interest.
I DIYed my wishbone namecard holders and it’s really easy. Find out the step by step instructions here.
That wasn’t the only thing I DIYed. I really wanted gold silverware for my tablescape but couldn’t afford to get a whole set so I created my own. Find out what I used here.
My most fun budget-friendly portion of this table are those navy runners. I didn’t have any plain navy fabric handy to create them, so I used an old airline blanket that I had stored away (the kind they give you on long trips). I simply cut it in two and instantly had my two runners. I didn’t even sew the edges. I knew I may not even use it again so I didn’t worry about that part.
This is how the overall budget broke down:
Grey Tablecloth – $0 (already owned but I think it’s still available at Target)
Navy Runners – $0 (from airline blanket)
Centerpiece – $12 for the cranberries (already had everything else…and you can cut back on the cranberries by using a wider & shorter cup for the candle)
Gold Candles – $0 (already had)
Plates & Chargers – $0 (already had)
World Market Napkins – $12 (on sale for just under $2 each…I couldn’t find them online but they may still be in stores)
Golden Silverware – $0 (used silverware I already had & added gold to them)
Namecard Holders – $10 (DIYed them so this was the cost of materials)
Total Spent: $34
That’s not too bad, considering one tablecloth could end up costing almost that much.
What are you planning for your Thanksgiving/Holiday table? I wanna see it!

Great ideas Heidi! Thanks for the reminder to place an object in the vase before filling to cut down on the amount of cranberries used too. Glad to see I’m not the only one who takes home their airplane blanket! I received a red one a couple of years ago and have used it as a superhero cape for the dog many a time. Ya know… because everyone likes to dress up their dog now and then. 🙂

I LOVE the cape idea! That’s brilliant Jordan! Well…I think we know what the moral to this story is…never throw away those airplane blankets! <3 Heidi

Have you seen the gold-handled white mugs at Starbucks? Gorgeous! I saw them after I saw your pic on IG, and I thought of your silverware. I’m thinking of maybe dipping the handles my white mugs in silver and gold paint – I need to research if paint would work. I would love to see/hear any of your ideas to make a version of those mugs.

Oh no! I haven’t! Those would look sooo awesome. I bet you could do that with the liquid gold paint but you’d definitely need to seal it afterwards. Let me know if you try them & they turn out well! <3 Heidi
