Hey party people!
I am so excited to share this stylized wedding shoot with you. This shoot was a collaboration with the very talented Meagan O’Neal (aka Meagan O’ Photography). Can I just take a minute to gush over her? She is mucho talented, but her passion is even more rare. Sure you can be passionate about something, but this girl really cares. I mean she has a heart for each couple she photographs that you can’t find. It is beautiful and refreshing and I can’t believe I was able to work with her. She has the eye to capture the very essence of a couple – their true selves and the exquisite beauty of their love. It’s kinda magical.
I don’t really need to say anymore. You’ll be able to see in these photos. I’ll share the reception and decorating details with you and then head over to Meagan’s blog to see the gorgeous photos of the couple.
This was the setting of our 70s inspired wedding shoot…Dunaway Gardens.
If you’ve ever dreamed of what it would be like to be in a real Secret Garden, it is reality at Dunaway. Every where you turn, nature is in its most majestic form. It truly is breath-taking.
You may be thinking, “How did you get the 70s theme from such a serene setting?”
Well, as I started explaining to Meagan what I wanted for this wedding shoot she said, “that almost sounds 70ish.” Yes! That was it. Not the 70s hippy vibe, but a 70s theme with a modern, feminine vibe.
After finding this bar at a thrift store for $30, I knew it had to be a pale pink color. My husband really thought I had gone crazy, but it was the perfect place to set up a Fro-Yo bar for the wedding reception.
I, personally, am a huge fan of Fro-Yo and think it’s a fun alternative to the regular cake or cupcakes.
The tables turned out beautifully, thanks in huge part to Owen’s Flower Shop. Kelly Wright of Owen’s shared some great tips and tricks for bridal floral arrangements here.
This fringe runner was like the icing to my table. It turned out great. If you’d like to make one yourself, check out my Fringe Runner Tutorial.
I may have gotten a little fringe happy and decided to add some to the napkins. For an easy to follow way to make your own, check out my Fringe Napkin Video Tutorial.
What? Did you say, “Are those disco balls in your floral arrangements?”
Yep. Yep, they are.
I thought Kelly, from Owen’s Flower Shop, may think I was a little cuckoo for asking her to put disco balls in the bouquet and centerpieces. She simply smiled and said, “If you have the disco balls, we’ll make it work.”
And boy did they work! I just wanted to stare at them the whole time.
Something else a little different here were the table numbers.
They weren’t actually table numbers. They were song titles. Seventies love song titles, to be exact.
The people or person received a card with song lyrics on it, and they had to match it to the song title to find their table. If you think some may have a hard time with this game, you can always print the song title on the back. This allows them to play along if they’d like or sit it out.
The invitation was simple. The gray pocket and pink paper for the liner were both from Paper Source.
Confetti is now making its appearance onto the wedding scene. Instead of the normal size confetti, we had extra large confetti with glittery peace signs.
Send the guests home with something they can use – a personalized pencil. Add a cute saying that you and your fiance share. The best part? You can get these for about $0.50. To find out how, check out this Personalized Pencil Favor post.
That’s all for the decoration, now head over to Meagan’s blog for a look at the beautiful couple. You will not be disappointed. Some of the most gorgeous wedding photos.

Hola! I love this idea of a froyo bar at the reception! so cute. My brother is getting married this fall and they have decided to have a brownie (sundae) bar instead of a groom’s cake (very cool). His fiance asked me to help her with it and I was wondering if you had any ideas for how to set up one.
I love reading your blog!
Thanks!

I love that idea, Erica! A brownie sundae bar is so fun. What if the brownies were bite-sized? That would be easier for guests to grab. You could display them really pretty and let guests fill up mini mason jars (if it’s that type of wedding) or martini glasses with the brownie bites. They can then add some ice cream and additional toppings. Hope this helps spark some ideas! Thanks so much for reading, Erica! <3 Heidi

You had me at froyo bar! 😉 A cute and (potentially) healthy alternative to cake and ice cream. Love it!

Fro-yo is the best, isn’t it??! Thanks Andrea! <3 Heidi
