Hey party people!
It’s a big day today! The first official launch of the new Parties for Pennies site, and I get to share a really fun Popsicle Pool Party with you.
First of all…I REALLY would love your feedback on the new site – good & bad. The purpose of redesigning it was to make it more clean looking and to help you navigate it better. You can now, hopefully, find party inspiration much easier…because…ain’t nobody got time for that searchin’ thing.
Now, let’s talk about enjoying the last couple months of summer and taking advantage of the pool days…with a Popsicle Pool Party! Not only will I share some fun ideas on how to throw your own low-maintenance Popsicle Pool Party, but Kate, from Dress Your Guests, will share some inspiration on what to wear. I always struggle with Pool Party attire. I don’t want to go too casual with workout shorts and a tank, but I also don’t want to go all Sunday dress either. Kate has the perfect solutions for us!
You can throw a Popsicle Pool Party that’s low-maintenance, but also fun. Start off with these free printable invitations. All you need to do is fill in the information and print.

I do have a disclaimer. This was shot at my wonderful friend’s home, JoAnn & Joe. It is AMAZING. Joe is an incredible landscaper. Their backyard makes you feel like you’re in a secret garden. I was in a rush to get to a improv class I’m taking, or I would’ve shot more pictures of just their landscape. Thanks again, Jo & Joe, for letting me crash your yard for a little bit.
Now…how can YOU create your own Popsicle Pool Party? It’s so easy and it starts with an inexpensive cart from Ikea.
BYGEL IKEA Utility Cart $29.99
Target Room Essentials Storage Tub (5.25×12.25×15) $4.99
Use these two things to create a popsicle or an ice cream cart. When you’re not using it to party, it’s perfect for a toy, school, or craft room.
Create your own DIY Popsicle (or Ice Cream) Cart:
1 | Put together the BYGEL Utility cart according to the directions (this is BY FAR the easiest Ikea piece I’ve ever put together). I left out the drawer for mine, but feel free to use it, if you’d like.
2 | Add your plastic storage bin on top.
3 | Line the plastic storage bin with a white garbage bag.
4 | Fill the garbage bag with ice and set the popsicles (or ice cream quarts) inside the ice.
I decided I needed a little umbrella in mine. This was a decorative one I have had since college (which obviously wasn’t too long ago, wink, wink). I just secured it by sticking it in the ice.
These labels help everyone figure out which flavors you have. If you’d like to print these off to use at your own party, just click here. I tried to create ones I thought would be the most popular.
As for the rest of the cart, use it to store all your party materials.
Display your drink selection.
If you like the cute little drink umbrella, you could make your own with my DIY Drink Umbrella tutorial.
Check out this video tutorial showing you How to Create Your Own Layered Drinks (alcholic & non-alcoholic) inspired by popular popsicle flavors.
I decided to add some pattern and color to my Popsicle Cart by lining it with fun wrapping paper. That’s also what I used to wrap my bottles of water.
TIP: Help kids (and adults) keep track of their water bottles by labeling them with number stickers or writing their initials on the paper.
You may wonder what those plates are for if it’s a Popsicle Party. Stick the popsicle stick through the middle of a small paper plate to keep the mess in check. I meant to get a picture of it in action, but forgot. So sorry.
It’s always good to have another salty snack to go along with the sweet popsicles. Air-popped popcorn is always an inexpensive, healthy treat to serve. It’s easy to make ahead of time and it goes along with the alliteration of our “Popsicle Pool Party!”
We have a whirly pop for our popcorn and I adore it. Organic popped corn in coconut oil is my favorite treat. That and some champagne & I’m ready to watch some reality TV.

See…parties don’t have to be high-maintenance. Throw a laid-back, but fun Popsicle Pool Party to celebrate summer before Fall sneaks up.
Don’t let choosing an outfit cause the stress in this stress-free party, though! Kate, from Dress Your Guests, gives you awesome inspiration on how to look cute and be comfortable! These are just the sneak peek pictures. Check out all her ideas here. Isn’t her little girl adorable with the Popsicle onsie?!! #wombonfire

Perfect timing! I am planning a “Maggie gets her cast off, come join us at the Pool party!”
However, shortening the title to “Popsicle Party” looks a little nicer on the invite

This is such a cute party idea. I love the trolley – it’s so sweet, as are the popcorn bags. I wish it could be Summer all year round so we could go to and host parties like this all the time!
