Hey party people!
I just wrapped up a great blog conference called Haven last weekend. I didn’t write about it because I’ve got so many fun party projects & inspiration to fit in. BUT…if you want to read about the experience, check out these great posts from some of the attendees.
All I will say is that Haven sometimes feels like a youth group church camp from back in the day. As soon as I get back home, I’m on fire and want to DIY everything. This year? I told my husband I thought we could end up DIYing the outdoor fireplace, roof, and deck we’ve been wanting to add. 🙂 He wasn’t as “on fire” about that.
Here is a much easier project to tackle than building your own outdoor fireplace, but just as enjoyable.
The cocktail drink umbrellas you can buy at the party store are cute, but sometimes you need something that goes a little better with your decor. Create these DIY Drink Umbrellas for a unique and fun touch.
SUPPLY LIST:
1| Streamers (Hot Pink Crepe Streamer – 81′)
2| Clear No-Damage Small Ponytail Holders (I got mine at my local drug store) or (Gold Magic Clear Elastic Braiding Bands)
3| Medium Wooden Skewers (Fox Run Brands Bamboo Skewers, 6-Inch)
4| Double-Sided Table (3M 3136 665 Double-Sided Office Tape in Hand Dispenser, 1/2 in. x 250 in., 3/Box)
5| Scissors (not pictured)
STEPS:
1| Gather the streamer in a circle.
2| Use a small piece of double-sided tape to secure one end to the other. This just helps reinforce it.
3| Slip the end of your wooden skewer in the middle of your streamer circle. While holding one end of the streamer to the wooden skewer, secure it with the clear ponytail holder. Continue to wrap the ponytail holder around the streamer (like you would a normal ponytail) until tightly secured.
4| Fluff out. You can add more layers, cut the bottoms with patterned craft scissors, and or top the wooden skewer with a small circle of the streamer to finish the look. I cut a really small circle and used a glue stick on the streamer to adhere over the top of the skewer.
They almost look more like pretty parasols, don’t they?
Use any color you’d like to create a functional and stylish party addition.
These cute little things are going to be featured in my pool party I’ll share at the end of this month. Can’t wait to show you more.
For now, I think I should partake in the fruits of my labor. Cheers!

I love this and your margarita glasses!! Where did you find them? 🙂
Heidi Rew says
Hey Kelly! These were actually a gift and she got them at Sur La Table, but I just checked and they don’t have them anymore. I DID find some at One King’s Lane that are similar: https://www.onekingslane.com/product/39872/17156. Hope that helps. <3 Heidi
