Hey party people!
Hope you’re having a great Labor Day weekend. Today, we’re doing something a little different.
If you read a variety of blogs, like I do, you may find yourself wondering about the bloggers behind the blogs. How do they come up with their projects? How do they determine their style and what they are going to write about each day.
So, I was so excited when my friend Heather, from At The Picket Fence, asked me to join her for this fun Tour Through Blogland Series!
At the Picket Fence is a blog featuring two sisters, Heather & Vanessa, that live in opposite ends of the US. They are beautiful and precious women. Heather has also been on a tremendous weight loss journey and it is so inspiring. See more of her story and check out their blog here.
Love Heather’s dining room!
I was asked to answer FOUR questions about myself to give a glimpse into my lovely ditz world, and how I come up with ideas for the blog! Then I’ll be introducing you to TWO of my blog friends that will share their answers next week!
1. WHAT AM I WORKING ON?
My most favorite project TO DATE is going down at the end of this month, and I’m so excited. This may be vague-blogging, but I can’t share all the details yet. 🙁 I’m working constantly on that, so if the blog gets a little wonky, please accept my apologies in advance.
Another thing I CAN tell you about is a partnership with a fabulous brand. I just signed a contract to become a video tutorial spokesperson for Sizzix brand. Sizzix will change your little craft and party-loving heart! I’ll begin posting those videos later this month.
And…more and more video tutorials are in the works.
2. HOW DOES MY WORK DIFFER FROM OTHERS IN MY GENRE (Party Blogs)?
I do offer event planning services, but the purpose of THIS blog is to encourage YOU that you can create memorable events without breaking the bank or your stress meter. Hopefully you leave this blog feeling like you can be an awesome entertainer whether it’s for a crowd of two or twenty.
3. WHY DO I WRITE/CREATE WHAT I DO?
I’ve always loved entertaining from the time I can remember, but we didn’t have any money growing up. My dad was a public school teacher and my mom a stay-at-home mom of four. If I wanted to decorate my room or entertain, I had to either make stuff myself or find a way to do it on a tight budget. This blog was born out of a desire to find other people as passionate about entertaining as I was and share ideas.
4. HOW DOES YOUR WRITING/CREATIVE PROCESS WORK?
People have asked me before if I ever get writers block. I never get writer’s block, but I do get time block. Time block is not having enough time to do all the ideas. 😉
My filter now is to feature something that is unique but very simple to implement or recreate.
DIY Strawberry Balloon with Video Tutorial
Now three of my blogging friends will introduce themselves to you! You can see how they answered the four questions above on Monday, September 8th!
First up, I met these girls this past year at Haven and they are so fun. They amaze me with their creativity, hilarious personalities, and cute fashion.
1. DIY Playbook
Bridget & Casey are the rookies behind the blog DIY Playbook. The best friends and Chicago gals have a love for antiques, crafts, and home decor. The DIY Playbook is a blog designed to give readers the “plays”, tools, and inspiration to transform their own homes…without breaking the bank.
Next up is Megan. I met Megan through her mom on the Tybee Blogger weekend. Her mom said we’d hit it off, and we did. Megan is so tiny, but her personality and spunk is HUGE! Just spend a few minutes with her and you’ll want to be her best friend.
2. Project Housewife
Hi! I’m Megan Plummer and smack in the middle of Blogland, is the messy, super-fun, and very real account of my life as a wife and mom of three littles. Project Housewife is my not so private diary- where I learn how to do ‘housewifey’ things from experts and write about it! Whether it’s cooking, chasing little ninjas, exploring my city, or attempting to complete a project, I try to keep it real and have fun with the friends I make along the way. Housewives, rev your minivan/suburban/tesla engines. We have places to go and people to meet! Can’t wait to hang with YOU!
xoxo, Megan
So, technically, I was supposed to have three bloggers featured here but it was super hard to get in touch with bloggers around the Labor Day weekend. Angela, from Unexpected Elegance, actually featured me a few weeks ago and I wasn’t able to return the favor in a timely fashion. I’d like to share a little about her.
Angela is one of the sweetest people you’d meet. I met her two years ago at Haven and have loved following along with her blog. She’s a mom of two girls and offers great tips and home inspiration on her blog.
Thanks to all the bloggers featured for letting me share. Hope YOU found some new bloggers to follow, as well.
This Wednesday, I’m sharing the Brewery Baby Shower I recently threw for my blogging friend Michelle! Until then, party on!
