Party Hack: DIY Cake Topper

Party accessories can really add up – a little favor tag here, a little table runner there. The reason I started Parties for Pennies is because I love throwing parties, and I need to keep my budget in check. I truly believe you can throw stunning, Pinterest-worthy parties without breaking the bank.
Today, I wanted to share a little Party Hack with you. It’s really simple, but can be a game changer.

 

 
A huge party trend are personalized cake toppers. There are really some amazing ones cut from wood and some with amazingly intricate designs. The price? It could set you back any where from $15 to $30.
Instead of forking out that dough, head to your local craft store and find the scrapbook aisle. Most of the time you can find gorgeous sayings and phrases that are perfect cake toppers. That’s where I found this cute thing.

 
It really was designed to use for scrapbooking or making your own cards, but I think it doubles fabulously as a cake topper, too!
The entire back is sticky, so I just got a paper straw, stuck it on the back and had a fun cake topper for a couple bucks.

Save money on your next party by checking out the scrapbook aisle, ordering a plain cake from the grocery store, and adding a few sprinkles. That is your official cake topper party hack!
