Hey party people!
What started out as a plumbing disaster, ended up to be an updated kitchen, dining, and living room! If you missed any of the story, click here: Plumbing Disaster, Tips on Choosing Flooring, the Install, and the Man Cave Inspiration.
I am no interior decorator, but I do love the process of figuring out my style, the vibe of a room, and the ever-evolving design. The kitchen, dining, and living areas aren’t where I want them to be yet, but that may just be the theme of my life. I wanted to show you the kitchen before and after, as well as the dining and living rooms. The new Mohawk Flooring Montclair Laminate in Warm Cider Oak makes a huge difference. The darker color looks so much better.
You may have noticed we made a few more changes. We painted over that green to match the living area. I always regretted that green color choice. Now, I no longer have to face my poor color choice.
We also added some shelving.
I felt like we needed something in that space. We just got some basic wooden shelves and painted them to match the cabinet.
Besides a few accessory swaps, not much has changed in the living area. I did bring in the hyde rug from our office.
Since it’s such an open space, we ended up doing the hallway as well.
It’s so interesting because I had always heard that darker flooring would make a room look smaller, but it seems like it makes it look bigger. What do you think? Can you see that, too?
So far…this one’s little paws haven’t caused any scratches on this flooring, either. Hair on the floor? That’s another story.
Overall, what do I think of my Mohawk Flooring?
* The color is amazing. It makes everything look a bit more upscale.
* The texture is really fun. It actually feels and looks like hardwood flooring.
* Even after all the furniture we had to move, not one scratch.
Before the plumbing fiasco we weren’t really thinking of changing our flooring. We had other priorities in our home. Now, I couldn’t imagine this space with any other flooring. I LOVE the change!
Thanks again Mohawk Flooring & Builders Floor Covering!
Next, I’m going to share with you the after of the man cave downstairs. Until then, party on!

Linda, thank you so much!! I’m so sorry it took me awhile. Had to dig it out of our garage. We used Behr Flannel Grey on the cabinets. Thank you again for stopping by the blog!! Hope you have a great Holiday season! <3 Heidi

Hi. These new floors are beautiful and I would love to put them in the home we’re building. Are you sure they are the Montclair Warm Cider Oak? When I look on the Mohawk website, the photo they have for this floor looks completely different and I don’t like them at all, but your floor is beautiful.
