Hey party people!
Do you get excited for award season? I do. I love the dresses, the performances, the jokes, and, of course, the parties. Whether it’s chilling on your couch with a friend and a glass of champagne…or filling out a ballot of your own with a huge group, the award season is a great excuse to party.
Some of you may know that, besides this blog, I am a voiceover artist and on camera host. I started a little networking group for Atlanta women actresses last year and Allison (one of the girls in the group) is hosting an Oscar party for us. She’s literally rolling out the red carpet for us. I’ll try and snap some good pictures.
I was trying to brainstorm a fun treat to bring to the Oscar party. I wanted something simple, inexpensive, and Oscar-themed.
So, I created my own edible Oscars.
You don’t need much to create these delicious Oscars.
– Round Brownie Bites
– Yellow Chocolate Melts (found at local craft store in the baking section)
– Parchment Paper or Wax Paper
– Printed out Oscar Award (Search under free clipart, copy to a Word document, size so that the base/legs is 1″ wide and the statue is 3″ tall
Step 1 | Melt chocolate melts according to the package.
Step 2 | Pour melted chocolate into a plastic sandwich bag.
Step 3 | Cut a small portion of one corner from the bag.
Step 4 | Place the printed Oscar statue underneath the wax/parchment paper. Use that as a stencil to create a chocolate version of the statue. Outline then fill it in.
Step 5 | Once you have it outlined and filled in (make sure it’s pretty thick), use a knife or the back of a spoon to smooth out the chocolate.
Step 6 | Let your Oscars dry completely. Once they’re dry, create a thick circle of chocolate on top of your brownie bite.
Step 7 | Place your Oscar upright in the chocolate on top of the brownie bite. You may have to prop it up against something until it dries.
Here’s my very technical propping system in action…
Once they’ve dried, plate them and enjoy!
These Oscar party treats can be enjoyed in a group setting or alone in your pjs!
Hope you enjoy the Oscars, whatever way you watch them. Follow me on instagram to see sneak peeks of the Oscar party with all my acting girlfriends. Until then, party on!
