Hey party people!
If you’ve been following Parties for Pennies awhile, you know that I’m gluten free. I have a sensitivity that I discovered a few years ago. I will get a horrible headache that lasts for several days (no pain medication eases it) if I have gluten. That makes party food a little tricky. I mean…cake with no gluten? Preposterous!
Whenever I plan parties, I always try to provide at least one item for the most prominant dietary needs – gluten free, vegetarian, and dairy-free. It seems crazy impossible, but it’s not as bad as you think.
If I go to a party, I’ll usually try and bring something gluten free in case there’s not anything.
All that to say, I’m always on the look out for great party foods that are gluten free, vegan, and/or dairy-free.
One of the best cookbooks I’ve come across for this is the Paleo Kitchen by Juli Bauer & George Bryant. This is not an ad. Mike, my husband, just got this book for me for Christmas and I am absolutely loving it.
They have awesome main menu items, as well as desserts – ice cream, cookies, cakes, etc. One of those recipes recently got RAVE reviews and many requests.
These will make your mouth sing! This Gluten Free Paleo Bacon Brownie recipe makes the most fudgey, delicious brownies ever and there’s the bacon. Can’t. Go. Wrong.
I highly recommend the entire cookbook, but here’s the recipe for the Gluten Free Paleo Bacon Brownies to tide you over until then.
[yumprint-recipe id=’4′] These are a great party recipe. They’re huge crowd pleasers (whether people are gluten free or not), much healthier than most desserts, and you don’t need to have 5 different kind of flours on hand to create this recipe.
And just to warn you – Candied Bacon is pretty much amazing. You may want to make a few extra to snack on.
If you’re gluten free, check out some of these other recipes I’ve posted here on Parties for Pennies –
Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies
Gluten Free Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls with Maple Cream Cheese Frosting
Have fun baking & tasting! Party on!
