Hey party people!
We are getting all up in the Christmas business this season. I’ve got some fun posts headed your way and, today, I’m kicking off 12 DAYS of CHRISTMAS VIDEO TUTORIALS! I’ve got projects for your tree, recipes, gift ideas, and much more. They’ll all be easy and help you keep mo’ money in your pocket.
The first video tutorial I want to share with you is a project I made 4 years ago for my first tree as a married woman. I made them out of felt, but an even cheaper option is using cardstock. So, here’s how you can create your own DIY Paper Poinsettia.
Supplies:
White Cardstock (you’ll need 7 sheets for 1 poinsettia)
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun (please be very careful handling this)
Gold Sparkly Scrapbook paper
Hole Punch
Steps:
1| Cut a poinsettia leaf out of the cardstock by folding it in half once. You’ll make a skinny half circle, but with a pointier end. Repeat this step 3 more times, for a total of 4 petals.
2| We’re going to start on the 2nd layer of poinsettia petals by folding a piece of cardstock in half, then in half again. Along the folds, cut out another skinny half circle with pointed end. Repeat 1 more time, for a total of 4 petals.
3| For the final layer of petals, fold a piece of cardstock in half, then in half again, and in half one last time. Cut out the same skinny half circle with pointed end shape. You should end up with 4 petals from that one cut.
**If you want to use FELT for these, take an iron and quickly run over the half circles so it solidifies the crease.**
4| Attach the 4 largest petals together using your glue gun.
5| Add the medium sized petals in between the large petals and attach with your glue gun.
6| Finally add the smallest petals in between the medium sized petals with your glue gun.
7| Use your hole punch to create small circles out of your sparkly gold paper. Attach three in the center of your poinsettia with your glue gun.
**You could also use gold buttons, gold glitter fabric paint, or gold stickers for the same affect.**
Add to your Christmas tree, to garland, on top of gifts, to your tablescape/placesetting, or even to your walls.
